A beautiful welcome to a new workplace

I can't fully express the deep joy I felt walking into my new client's workspace and seeing two giant user journey maps tacked up to their wall in all of its Post-it Note glory.

I was told that they had only days before learned how to create these journey maps, and were eager to get started.

Why? Well, if I may be a bit boastful—which I will be—they said they were inspired to kickstart this customer-centred exercise after my interview and hearing me mention my love for Jeff Patton's book on User Story Mapping. If you’re in Product, Design, or Delivery and haven’t already picked it up, consider this an official recommendation to do so. Go on. Get it. Amazon ships fast.

Seeing their happy (and pain point-ladden) paths splayed out on the wall in a wondrous bouquet of sticky note colours signaled their seriousness in embracing this ‘new’ world of UX-led design.

It's time to get started!
